Michigan - My Home
Whether you are from the lower or upper peninsula, Michigan is a wonderful state to live in. There is always something to do within Michigan. A lot of people that live in the state do not realize just how much of a tourist place it is. Millions of dollars are spent by people who come to Michigan from out of state every year.
Michigan is comprised of a Lower and an Upper Peninsula connected by the Mackinac Bridge. The whole of the state is surrounded by 5 freshwater bodies called the Great Lakes. There are also 2 major bridges in the lower peninsula that connect Michigan to the country Canada.

Upper Peninsula
The Upper Peninsula was not always an official part of Michigan. It became a part of the state in 1837 when it was arguing for statehood against Ohio for the "Toledo Strip". Why would that matter to a place as far north as the Upper Peninsula? It turns out that they were all considered part of the "northwest territory". If Michigan gave up the strip to Ohio, it gained the U.P. as part of the map for statehood. (https://99wfmk.com/how-wisconsin-lost-the-upper-peninsula-to-michigan/)

The Tahquamenon Falls are an impressive part of the U.P. Just like Michigan itself, there are lower and upper portions of the falls.

The Crisp Pointe Lighthouse is a beautifully kept up lighthouse on the Lake Superior side of the U.P. It is well worth seeing at least once.
